Nightmares About... Work???

Since there's slim and none going on locally because of the weather and some lighter schedules this week... I guess you get to read about ME!

-----------------

Is this a sign of things to come this upcoming season?

Despite working the early shift at the station, I don't nap in the afternoon very often, but yesterday I did... sawing logs from about 2:00 - 5:00 (WAY too long). But I was having this dream, which I woke up from once or twice, and it would just continue when I'd fall back asleep. I was supposed to be on location at Melville Stadium for their season ticket blitz, from like 4:00 - 8:00... but, I fell asleep till 4:00... and for whatever reason got lost in Melville. Yes, lost in Melville... and it was after 8:00 by time I found where I was supposed to be... so I missed the entire remote.

Then, last night... I dreamt that I was on my way to Portage for a game, and I was halfway there, and looked back in the van, and found I had NO gear. And there was no way I could come all the way back to Yorkton and make it there in time for the game... I think I decided I'd do the whole game on my cell phone, because I did have the charger with me. But the dream didn't last long enough for me to see how that would pan out.

Both times I woke up sweating, heart POUNDING!

It's freakin' JULY! Why am I dreaming AT ALL about hockey season??? And why are they dreams like that???

I'm getting married in 16 days... you'd think I could at least have some nightmares about that!

----------------

Overall though, while I'm awake atleast, life's pretty good right now. Just putting some final touches on wedding stuff, but let's be honest... a lot of those decisions aren't mine. My fiancee Carly moved back to Saskatoon for the month of July so she can do more wedding stuff. So, I've got our place to myself for a little while. June 1st we got an almost new duplex on Good Spirit Crescent, right behind M.C. Knoll/St. Mikes in Yorkton.

Once all the wedding/honeymoon jazz is over, "Mrs. Stein" will be getting her new classroom ready at St. Henry's Senior in Melville. So if you've got kids there, she's teaching a lot of different grades, mostly English starting in the fall.

It's funny, because teachers think THEY don't make any money. And I always say "Not many people can call a teacher their Sugar Mama, but I CAN!" She subbed 10 days in May and made what I make it a month. And then 10 more days in June, same thing. Oh well... at least I'm having fun!

---------------------

Remember my Canada Day post about a jackass ramming my car in the Walmart parking lot and driving away? Well, it's obviously my expense... CSI still hasn't found the culprit! $1800 damage, but luckily I have a $50 deductible. The package policy I grudgingly buy every year has certainly paid for itself a few times. In Moose Jaw I had my driver side lock broken into, along with 2 of the players while it sat at the rink for 3 days. A few weeks later my car was hailed on... now this.

But the reason I brought this up... was last night, my colour guy Clark Stork, who leaves his vehicle in Regina for his wife, had his bike stolen while at Mano's in the mall. So he's pounding the pavement now, and he's determined to find it. It's a red 21-speed mountain bike. Keep an eye and an ear out if you don't find.

People.

----------------------

One of my top 3, NHLers ever is retiring today.

Joe Sakic, who might have been captain for Team Canada in his hometown in 2010 is hanging them up.

What a classy guy, and what a consistent 20 seasons in the NHL.

If not for 3 injury riddled seasons, including his last two years in the league, he probably would have scored 25 goals every year. He scored 50 twice and 100 points six times... two Cups, an Olympic Gold in '02... among other awards. And how bout this... 138 goals and 293 points in 2 seasons with the Swift Current Broncos. But my favourite Joe stat... 84 playoff goals, EIGHT overtime winners. Clutch.

And when I say top 3... only behind Wayne and Mario for me.

The Jays suck again. Back to .500 for the first time since 0-0. They're now 43-43.

---------------------

Darian Durant WILL play Saturday in Toronto. The Rider QB had a great start against B.C. last week... he was like 9-for-10 off the hop, then started throwing picks. Have faith!
