SJHL Adopts Changes

The SJHL held its Annual meetings in Nipawin this past weekend, where it was decided a few new rules will be brought in for the 2009-10 season.

Laury Ryan talks about the rule changes/Showcase... Tracy Cook goes over the new 4-man referee system the SJHL will introduce to mirror the WHL/NHL.

- Teams can no longer make changes after icing the puck.

- Teams will play 4-on-4 after coincidental penalties.

- Face-offs will always occur in the offensive zone when a team begins a powerplay.

- The league's goal is to have 20% of games worked by 4 on-ice officials (2 referrees, 2 linesmen)

SJHL President Laury Ryan

- Ryan added the league schedule is tentatively set, and will be released within the next 2 weeks. The regular season is scheduled to begin Friday, September 18th.

ill they be enforcing delay of games more heavily this season?

You mean shooting the puck over the glass? That's still not a penalty, because glass is different heights in every rink.

i really like the no line change after an icing. even though scoring is not an issue like it is in the nhl it seemed like every time a team was in trouble they would just ice the puck and it was very boring.
