A 3-0 win over the Weyburn Red Wings on Sunday night gave the Melville Millionaires a second Sherwood Conference Championship in the last three years, and a third in the last seven. Just like the previous two times, the Mils will face a talented Humboldt Broncos' team, and after losing in 4 straight in 2003, and in 5 games in 2007, they're hoping the third time's a charm.

Meville's had the best attendance numbers through the post season, despite being the smallest centre of the 10 playoff teams, and Millionaires' Coach/GM Jamie Fiesel says there's no question they were the 7th man against Yorkton, as well as in the Weyburn series, including Game 6.

"They were great. The weather wasn't that good, it probably cost us a few, scared to drive because of the rain. But they've been great all series, filling the place. We felt confident coming back here, this was our home game 'Game 7', and the fans gave us the little extra energy when we were dyin' to pull it out."

Fiesel reminds fans that they'll be needed in the league final against Humboldt as well, and also that the historic Melville Stadium's in the twilight of its existence, and this just might be your last opportunity to catch a league final at the ol' "Vault."

"With the new rink coming, I don't know how many more times you're going to get a chance in our old Stadium in the league final with a chance to pull it off. I encourage all the people to come out to support our team, we've got a good team this year, and try to give us that extra little push and see if we can get 'er done."

First Mils' home game of the league final goes Tuesday, March 31st at 7:30.

While the Millionaires' playoff run's exciting for the players, coaches and fans, these numbers should also be a big boost to the club's bottom line. The Mils have had their maximum amount of gates they could have so far, with 4 in the first round, and 3 in the Sherwood final. It's also not hurting that they won't have to spend a single night in a hotel through the entire SJHL Playoffs.
