Wayway Wins in Shootout

The Wayway Wolverines spoiled the Swan Valley Stampeders' home opener on Saturday night with a 3-2 shootout win at the Centennial Arena. Dave Lamouche (pictured) had a goal and the shootout winner, while Ryan Duhaime also tallied. The Stampeders, who do gain a single point in the standings with the shootout loss, got goals from Chris Reimer and Justin Giesbrecht.

The Stampeders out-shot the Wolverines 27-25. Matt Kinsella got the win, making 25 saves for Wayway, and stopped all 3 shooters he faced in the shootout. Chris Ward stopped 23 for the Stamps.

Both teams were 1-for-7 on the powerplay, and the Stamps had 3 straight opportunities on the man advantage in the third period while the score was tied, but failed to capitalize.

Wayway's off until next Saturday, when they host the Stamps in their home opener. Between now and then, the Stampeders have a home and home with Dauphin, Wednesday at home, Friday in Dauphin (7:30 on GX94).
