MILS 2 @ HUMBOLDT 5

There's a bad quality picture of Melville's bench during Oh Canada (lots of space huh?). 14 skaters... 9 forwards (including Fort Knox DEFENSEMAN Rylan Badduke, who had a great game), and 5 defensemen went into Humboldt to face the country's 2nd ranked team, and just didn't have horses or gas in the tank to keep up.

They were tied 1-1 after the first period, but the Broncos added four straight, and would win 5-2.

Russell Trudeau scored both Millionaire goals, giving him 26 in just 33 games this season. Ian McNulty had one assist, extending his point streak to 6 games (18 points).

The Mils were out-shot 37-14 (although the Mils clearly had a handful of shots that went unmarked in the second period especially), and Alex Wakaluk took the loss making 32 saves.

Often, when you win the special teams battles, you win, but the Mils went 2/6 on the PP and 7/7 on the PK in a losing cause, as they were out-scored 5-0 at even strength.

The Mils take on Notre Dame on Friday in Fort Qu'Appelle (on GX94).

--------------------------

Tyler Giebel scored his second hat trick of the season, Curtis Oliver added a pair, as the Yorkton Terriers routed the Flin Flon Bombers 7-1.

Zak Majkowski and Kailum Gervais also scored for Yorkton, while Devon McMullen, Kelly Leismeister, Brent Struble and Jeremy Johnson all had 2 assists.

Warren Shymko earned another 'W', making 27/28 saves.

The Terriers move 3 points up on Melville for 2nd place, and 8 up on Estevan.

They're back in action Friday at home against Melfort.

---------------------------

Wayway grabbed another single point in OCN with a 3-2 overtime loss.

The Wolverines got second period goals from Brett Lafond and Andrew Clark (SH), and took a 2-1 lead after 40 minutes.

Cory Simons stopped 27/30 in the Wolverines' cage.

The Wolverines now sit 5 points back of Swan Valley for a playoff spot, and both teams now have 12 games remaining... 4 of which are against each other.

craig you are the class of the league in terms of radio guys. but when you allow guys like last night to come on the air and talk about their opinions about calls and what "they" think should happen is bush league and you are better than that. the regina gig would be great for you, more than capable....but keep your standards higher than what you had last night.

Mils had 14 players & 14 shots.
Lorne you are so funny NOT.

Heh Lorne wait till your team has all the injuries then we will see who is funny!! Not u ..

Every game we have some one hurt or 2 players hurt, we are still in the hunt. Not bad for a team that has no stars, every body watches each other backs. If we would have Voth we would win the Sherwood again.

Craig Stein said...

I like Voth but how can you say the Terriers' goaltending isn't in good hands? Aren't many (if any) playing better than Shymko right now.

Lorne said...

I think goaltending is up & down too much, not consistant enough.
Trent has to let 1 person take the bull by the horns & run with it.
Can not rotate 3 goal tenders any more.

Craig, Last nights game, I liked how you guys tell it how it is and nothing more, call a spade a spade, keep up the good work ...

Stein too much on Terriers side once again

Because I'm defending Shymko?

Hoping it's a Mils/Terriers playoff round so I can find out from the anonymous fans who my favourite team is THIS year!

Craig you are doing a great Job.
You call it the way you see it.
Every body sees it different.
Since Melville has not been to the dance in a long time, you can not help it if a person has a soft spot for them. If terriers are not in it I would cheer for the Mils also. Mils need terriers, terriers need mils.

Craig come on, you watch the Terriers day in and day out, I am a Terrier fan saying that our goaltending is NOT in good hands. Very inconsistent.

Mills do not need Terriers at all

Anonymous said...

lmao @ craig being on terriers side..please..

can we stop this already. craig is not on either teams side. he wants all four of the teams he covers to go as far as possible.

Also it should be obvious that both teams need each other. The biggest gates, the biggest 50/50, the biggest beer garden sales, the biggest canteen all come from this rivalry. So when the playoffs start in three weeks and we are playing each other again it will be great for the bottom line.

Lorne it only has been a couple years since Mills went further than Survivor series....how about the Terriers stacked up and have not won in league finals for two years. And they also lost money.. Who wants a Terriers/Mills playoff series not me.

David we want a Championship not profit.
