HERE'S THE PLAN

Time for another edition of Mission Impossible: Make Everyone Happy!

After meeting with Sales and Programming, our broadcast schedule is for Round 1 is set. We're doing all games IN OCN because those are the furthest games away for our local fans. It just so happens that Games 1, 3, 5 in OCN, are also Games 1, 3, 5 in Yorkton. We've got a way to get almost the entire games from BOTH on the air though... more on that in a second. We won't be broadcasting Swan's home games for Games 2 & 4, as we'll do the Yorkton @ Melville games those nights in their entirety. If the series' go past five games, Games 6 & 7 don't conflict with each other and we can do them all.

Now before Melville people say "WHY ARE YOU DOING OUR HOME GAMES AND NOT YORKTON'S?!?!" Here's the deal: (And, I recall when the Mils went to the final in 08-09 and played Yorkton, we did Games 2 and 4 in Yorkton, and not Games 1 and 3 in Melville, at all.)

Games in OCN start at 7:00, games in Yorkton start at 7:30. A period of hockey takes roughly half an hour to play, intermissions are roughly 15 minutes. So, my colour man Brendan Pawliw will stay in Yorkton and call the Terriers/Mils during my intermissions in OCN, and because of the half hour difference, all of the third period should get on the air (and OT if need be), barring overtime in OCN.

I'm also awaiting approval for a half hour Pre Game Show when we're doing both games, so we can tee up both games. So, ideally, here's what you'll hear during Games 1, 3, and if necessary, 5.

6:30 - 7:00 Pre Game from OCN
7:00 - 7:30 All of 1st period from OCN
7:30 - 7:45 Half of 1st period from Yorkton
7:45 - 8:15 All of 2nd period from OCN
8:15 - 8:30 Half of 2nd period from Yorkton
8:30 - 9:00 All of 3rd period from OCN
9:00 - 9:30 All of 3rd period from Yorkton

We won't be sending a second person to games in Swan because they start at 7:30, like the games in Melville, so there would be little to no Play by Play. Not worth sending someone close to 2 hours away.

So here's the schedule. Games in BOLD will be broadcast in their entirety. Games in BOLD ITALICS will be partially (mostly) broadcasted. Should only miss 10 or so minutes from the 1st and 2nd periods.

Swan Valley @ OCN - Game 1

As Charlie Brown would say,

Good Grief!

Why couldn't you guys broadcast the Yorkton-Melville games in their entirety on the Fox?

I think I've done 2 games on Fox in the past, but it's a last resort. It's a music-driven station, much different format. I don't call the shots at all, but it's definitely not a bad idea. I know Melfort does games on both their stations (AM Oldies and FM Country). Again, out of my hands, I don't argue!

why even bother?

Ya, 40 minutes (including the full 3rd period) isn't better than none at all.

Who ever is complaining stop it.
Do not be so cheap go & see every game. Hockey is very good for the soul. You might not be so bitter all your life.

Great job, you can't please everyone, but your efforts are appreciated!

Well that's refreshing, thanks!

And Debbie, you're not even making sense anymore.

At least fans have some options in these areas! Keep up the good work!

I am an out of province Yorkton fan. As much as I am disappointed in not geting the full games for the Terriers, I am glad to get what I can and appreciate you trying to accomodate both series. And for those of you who are complaining about the radio coverage...there is video coverage available too online.
