TERRIERS GET FIRST WIN VS MILS / FALLOON TRICKS NATIVES IN DEBUT

After the Melville Millionaires won both ends of the season's first double-dip with Yorkton by lopsided scores, the Terriers answered with a 6-3 win to kick off Round 2.

The Terriers, on the road, built a 3-0 lead, but allowed the Mils to close it to 3-2, before eventually opening it back up to 6-2, and holding on for a 6-3 final.

The line of Nathan Murray, Riley Paterson and Curtis Oliver combined for 6 points, while Tayler Thompson scored once and added a helper. Brent Struble, Keven Cann and Kyle McLeod also found the net.

Russell Trudeau scored twice for Melville, giving him 13 goals and 22 points in 10 games. Michael Sagen added a goal, and Lee Christensen had 2 assists.

Blake Voth lost for the first time in Mils colours, stopping 34/40 shots. Warren Shymko earned the win, making 36/39 saves.

The two teams square off again Saturday night at Farrell Agencies Arena in Yorkton.

---------------

Derek Falloon wasted no time making a good impression with his new teammates and coaching staff.

In his first game as a Swan Valley Stampeder, Falloon notched a hat trick, as part of a 7-1 win over the Neepawa Natives, a win that snapped a 9 game winless skid for the Stamps.

Interestingly enough, in Falloon's last MJHL game, a month ago with the Dauphin Kings, he had another hat trick, also against Neepawa.

Beau Taylor and Justin Valentino each had a goal and an assist, while Jayson Argue made his return to the Stampeders' crease, stopping 24/25 shots in the win.

The Stamps travel to Neepawa on Saturday, while the Wayway Wolverines host Portage.

Think the game would have been better without Dufour reffing... he hates the Mills.
terrible he should not be allowed to ref here as he does not ever do anything on our side.... very one sided.

Anonymous....I think your glasses are shaded a little too much in blue. Don't blame the reffing....simply put the better team won last night, just as the better team won the first two games.

Did Parker get hurt in his fight with Rockwell? He did not play after the fight.

Tyler Bird needs to sit, he is a liability out there. Stupid penalties constantly. I like his work ethic, but he needs to play smarter.

In my experience, Melville usually gets home-field advantage with officiating, at least in hockey and baseball. If Yorkton wins, they were the better team that night. Let it go, it's a game, that's the way the cookie crumbles.

I think the reffing over all is quite questionable. The game last night in Yorkton he missed some obvious calls against both teams. However to say that all Yorkton does is go after players is silly. If your players on the Mils don't like it when they are hit then maybe they should pick a different sport. I am not saying that the Dogs are all innocent but niether are the Mils.
