GREAT NIGHT FOR LOCAL SJ CLUBS

The SJHL Hall of Fame Weekend started on a great note, as the Yorkton Terriers beat the visiting Humboldt Broncos 4-1.

After a scoreless first period, Kyle McLeod opened the scoring midway through the 2nd, and that was followed shortly by markers from Nathan Murray and Brent Struble. Riley Paterson scored the prettiest goal of the night, going end to end, burning wide around the Broncos' D, and sliding the puck past a sprawled Deven Dubyk, to make it 4-0.

For the second time this season, Kale Thomson had a shutout bid spoiled late in the game, when Andrew Herle beat him over the glove with 4:07 to play.

Thomson's now 4-1 on the season, and the Terriers are back above .500 at 12-11-0-1.

--------------

The Melville Millionaires trailed 3-2 in Flin Flon for a good portion of the game, until Russell Trudeau played the hero again.

He tied it with 13 seconds remaining, and potted the winner just 41 seconds into the extra frame, for a 4-3 (OT) win.

Trudeau had 2-goals and an assist, and now has 9g-7a-16p in 7 games in Melville.

Ian McNulty and Allen Kilback (SH) also scored, while Michael Desjarlais had 2 assists.

Blake Voth bumped his personal record to 4-0, stopping 36/39 shots.

The Mils are in Flin Flon against tonight (SAT).

-------------------

The Swan Valley Stampeders fell 7-3 in Selkirk.

One line did all the damage for Swan Valley, with newcomer Ryan Elliot (2g-1a), Sam Briscoe (1g-2a) and Anthony Nobili (3a) combining for 9 points.

The Stampeders' weekend trip has them in Winkler tonight (SAT) and Portage tomorrow.
