SIMMONS SHINES, SHUTS OUT FLYERS IN DEBUT

In his first MJHL start, Cory Simmons stopped all 24 shots he faced, as the Wayway Wolverines won their third straight, blanking the nationally-ranked Winkler Flyers 2-0.

Russell Turner scored both Wolverines' goals, including an empty-netter.

I found a Cory SIMONS (one 'm') at Eliteprospects.com. I'm thinkin' that's him. (I hope it is, or that picture at the top isn't him!)

The team he played on last year is in a Junior 'B' league in Minnesota.

The Wolverines have now won 3 straight, improving to 9-7-1 on the season.

The Swan Valley Stampeders fell 6-2 in Dauphin on Saturday.

Dylan Reimer and Riley Hiebert scored third period goals for the Stamps.

Patrick Johnson played goal for Swan Valley, and was backed up by the recently-acquired Alcide Grenier.

Jayson Argue is in Langley, BC, where he's trying to crack the Team Canada West squad that will compete in the World Junior 'A' Challenge starting November 7th.
