Breitkreuz Will Stay Overseas

After speaking with Humboldt Broncos' Coach/GM Dean Brockman, and hearing from the Breitkreuz family, including Clarke himself via Facebook... I think we can safely announce that Springside product and former Terrier Clarke Breitkreuz will play professional hockey in Germany this season.

It's been correctly assumed by many in the last few weeks, but until recently, Clarke was still 'trying out.' He went to camp with Division 1 Ingolstadt, and will suit up for a Division 3 team, Duisburg. Duisburg is affilated with Cologne, where Clarke's older brother Brett is playing.

Even with the afflilation, Clarke can't jump to the DEL league until he's been in Germany for 2 full years, so he gets one year closer to that potentially happening by choosing to go pro now instead of waiting for next year.

Surely not an easy decision for the 20-year-old, who was part of a future considerations package, along with linemate Robbie Ciolfi, to go to the Humboldt Broncos, in exchange for last year's trade that brought Justin Buzzeo and Jeremy Boyer to Yorkton. The Broncos will host the RBC Cup Championship in May.
