The game of the night took place in Melville where the Millionaires were looking for their first win of the season against the unbeaten Moose Jaw Miller Express.

Mason Reynolds (Arkansas Tech) got the start on the mound for Melville and was opposed by Bryan Kinard (Brookhaven) for the Miller Express, and both were in control early on, as this one moved to the fourth inning with no score.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Melville would finally solve Kinard. Thanks to 4 hits and 2 Moose Jaw errors, the Millionaires would strike for 3 runs in the inning to grab a 3-0 lead. The rally was highlighted by an RBI base hit from Austin Pfeiffer (North. OK- Enid) that would score Jon Clark (Seminole St).

Moose Jaw however, would get right back off the mat in the top of the next inning, counting a pair of their own to pull within a run. They would string together 4 consecutive base hits to begin the fifth inning, including RBI base hits from Austin Russell (Colby) and Ben Douglas (Southern ID), knocking Mason Reynolds out of the game without recording an out in the fifth inning.

The Miller Express would take the lead in the sixth inning as Dalton Silva (Fresno City) blasted a 2-run homerun off of Melville reliever Chris Foreman (Douglas) that would score Nathan Wilson (Colby) to make it 4-3 Moose Jaw.

The back and forth battle would continue as Melville seized momentum back in the late innings, first with a run in the seventh inning to tie the game at 4. Millionaires reliever Miles Verweel (UBC) would deliver 3 scoreless innings in relief to take the game to the bottom of the ninth inning still tied.

With 2 men on in the bottom of the final frame, Jon Clark would come through with a base hit off of the Millers’ Shane Kotz (Taft) that would score Andrew Madsen (UBC) to give the Millionaires the walkoff win.

Final Score: Moose Jaw Miller Express 4 (5-1) – Melville Millionaires 5 (1-2)

With the win, Moose Jaw’s season opening winning streak is snapped, and Melville finds the win column for the first time this season.
