Vandane, Spokane Eliminated

The Portland Winterhawks are going to the WHL Final, after a 6-3 decision over the Spokane Chiefs in Game 6 of the Western Conference Final on Monday night.

Spokane led the game 2-0, but the Winterhawks' high-flying offense took over the rest of the way.

Yorkton product and former Terrier Davis Vandane finished the playoffs with 5 assists and a +9 rating in 17 games played. In 42 regular season games, he had 17 assists and was a +7.

A Spokane win would have guaranteed a former Terrier would win the WHL Championship, with John Neibrandt and the Kootenay Ice anxiously awaiting the start of the final, which should likely begin on Friday.

The winner goes to the Memorial Cup, hosted by the Mississauga St. Mike's Majors beginning May 20th. All games can be seen live on Sportsnet.

Great to see both of them doing well. Too bad Davis lost it would have been more fun to follow that series. Good Luck to John.
