That was a real skimpy post last night, considering the kind of game it was. But, it was from my phone, while lying on a bus that was driving about 40 km/h in a blizzard, and I was exhausted (although excited!)
I've done a handful of double overtime games in my short broadcasting career, but never triple!
Now I can say I have, thanks to the Melville Millionaires and Estevan Bruins. Like Coach Feez said on the Post Game Show, it was a real shame that someone had to lose a game like that. Both teams came hard for close to two games worth of hockey... and now they get right back at it again tonight.
I caught some shuteye on the ride home, just not sure how much. We pulled over at Grenfell, because our driver Larry and Feez had to "check the tires" (pee). In Grenfell it was clear, and it ws fine from Grenfell to Melville, and for me driving from Melville to Yorkton... but apparently it stayed pretty bad UNTIL Grenfell.
Props to Larry Rathgeber for getting us all home safe and sound!
We got to Melville Stadium at about 4:05... after letting the vehicle run, I made it to Yorkton by 4:50, and when Randy Atkinson got in at 5:00, he said, "Steiner why don't you just do a couple voicers and get outta here?"
OK!
I got home around 6:30 and slept until 2:00 this afternoon... it feels like I'm getting set to do a matinee game!
Game 4 tonight, 7:30 at the Vault! A win would send the Mils to the Conference Semis against the Yorkton Terriers.

As for our broadcast schedule, we only know what we're doing up until tomorrow as of now. Click on the broadcast schedule link on the right, and it will be updated as soon as we know.
I know I'm going to Portage tomorrow (WED) for Game 1 of the Swan Valley Stampeders and Portage Terriers.
If Melville loses tonight and there's a Game 5 in the Survivor Series, I'll be coming back to do Game 5 in Estevan.
If Melville wins tonight, I'll stay the night in Portage and do Game 2 on Thursday.
Wayway also starts Thursday, but we'll be doing Swan if we're in Manitoba that night.
That decision comes from people above me, and it's for a couple reasons. Yes, sponsorships are low from that area because there aren't a tonne of business, while Swan Valley sponsors are the best of the four teams we cover.
The biggest reason though, is whatever game we Thursday won't be on GX94... it'll be on our sister station Fox FM.
For years and years and years, we've carried "Sturgis Mini-Miracle" on GX94, the Thursday before Telemiracle in Saskatchewan. It's a huge success, and makes a pile of money for a great cause.
So, instead of just having no game, we'll move it to FOX. Which, has its own transmitter in Swan River (95.3 FM), and doesn't come in very well in the Russell/Wayway area.
We also have fox streaming online, so if you're out of our listening area... you'll still hear the game, at www.941thefox.com .
