Mils FINISH Comeback This Time, Tie Series

(Benches clear after the buzzer sounds to end game one. Coaches try to pry their guys out of the pile. Mils score three straight late in the third to win Game 2 5-4, tie the series at 1-1)

The Melville Millionaires trailed 3-1 and 4-2, before scoring three third period goals, to beat the Estevan Bruins 5-4 in regulation, and tie the series Sherwood Survivor Series at a game a piece.

It was a similar story line to game one. The Mils carried the play for much of the first period, out-shooting the Bruins 10-6, but found themselves down 3-1. Lucas Froese got the Mils on the board in period one.

Just like Game 1, the Mils scored the only goal of the second period, when Mark Owen went top shelf on a 5-on-3.

The Bruins made it 4-2 with about 7 minutes left... but I've learned never to count out this Melville team over this last month or so.

The Mils converted on another powerplay about a minute later, on Mike Rogoschewsky's 2nd of the playoffs. Roger Tagoona deflected a Justin Hollinger point shot home with 1:34 remaining... and when it looked like overtime was on its way for a second straight night... Rogoschewsky took things into his own hands.

He stripped Bruins' defenseman Joel Kot of the puck right at the Melville blueline... chipped it by him, shook him off at centre, and had a 2-on-1 from the blueline in with Mark Owen. He slid it across, Owen was hooked up, a delayed penalty was coming, but Owen snapped it off the crossbar and in with 63 seconds left in regulation.

HERE'S THE COMEBACK

It's pretty special to watch guys like Rogy, Hollinger and Craig Karius, etc, who had chances to go to teams with better records at the deadline... but chose to stay with their hometown teams. Rogoschewsky's playing like a 20-year-old man possessed. He's probably not a better skater than Joel Kot, but he out-willed him to a loose puck and found a way to set up the game winner.

The two teams were involved in a pushing and shoving match after the buzzer. Michael Desjarlais was kicked while he was down in the middle of it. Both coaches tried getting their guys out of there, and I think did a good job to minimize the damage. No gloves were dropped or anything... I doubt anyone will have to miss Game 3.

Coach Jamie Fiesel planned on starting Zach Rakochy in goal... but Rakochy, who's not 100%, felt he wasn't able to go. Alex Sirard gave up 3 goals on 6 first period shots, but settled down and stopped 21/25 overall.

Both games have been 5-4, and aside from an empty netter in the January 25th meeting, the last 6 meetings between these two teams have been decided by one goal, including 3 in overtime or shootouts.

Game 3 Monday in Estevan... catch the action on GX94... Pre-Game Show at 7:15, puck drops at 7:30.

whats the deal with Fiesel? From what I saw last night from either team the Terriers wont have any problems playing either team. I thought Estevan was alot better than that. As for Danyluk you can definately tell his knees are bothering him, he can barely move around.

I thought it was a great game just not sure how many times the mils can come from behind. I think Fiesel has them working very hard. As for Danyluk his knees might be sore but his arms sure work, how does he get away with swinging his stick like that, he looked like a crazy person, he has to learn to be a better loser, when he wins he waves to the crowd when he loses he goes crazy

One reason Danyluk might have lost it was because of family and friends in the stands not to mention 20 Terrier players watching and to blow that lead had to be frustrating. SherWood sure makes a good stick for not being able to break it! haha

Well he definatly tried hard to smach it to pieces, I am guessing those there to watch him were shocked

I was a little shocked but more concerned about the building caving in the way he was bashing that stick against the wall!
