Just traded Kyle McLeod future considerations for a piece of All Dressed pizza. Highlight of the night?
If it wasn't already, "Raise a Little Hell" is now my least favourite song. Had to hear it 6 times in roughly 12 minutes and 9 in total, as the Kindersley Klippers built a 6-0 first period lead and held off the Yorkton Terriers 9-6. The Kindersley goal horn also survived the fire.
I felt a little silly trying to put a positive spin on the outcome, but believe it or not, I had a funny feeling the Terriers had a chance to claw back, it was just such a weird night I wasn't willing to write anyone off, until Kindersley cleared their zone with under 2 min left after a couple glorious Terrier chances.
Shortly after Blaine Tendler scored his second of the night to make it 9-5, Jeremy Boyer showed some unbelievable patience to walk around a sprawling Sean Cahill, and hit the bottom of the post, with 11:30 left. Not much point asking 'what if' after a first period like that. The Terriers hit a post in each period. Troy Dumais in the first when it was 0-0, Boyer hammered one off the pipe in the second, and struck iron again in the third. He did score his 36th of the year late in the middle frame which ranks him second only to Travis Eggum in the SJ.
Aside from Tendler's pair (10, 11) and Boyer's goal, Riley Paterson (11), Robbie Ciolfi (20) and Justin Buzzeo (29) rounded out the Terriers' scoring. Devin Peters started and finished the game, while Warren Shymko played the last few min of the first, and whole second period. Peters allowed 5 and Shymko 4.
The Kindersley Klippers are GOOD. And like the Terriers, that wasn't their 'A' lineup. D-Jay McGrath and Spencer Braaten are both out. Johnny Calkins had 4 points, as that line with Dommett and Calkins were there usual dominant selves. But when the game was up for grabs, it was the line of former Brandon Wheat King Wheaton King, from Brandon, his older bro Sanfred and rookie Ryan Elliott who did the damage. Wheaton had four first period points (1g, 3a).
Wednesday's a new day, and now Yorkton's non-divisional game in Battleford is a lot more important, with now just a 2 point lead over the Klippers. Kindersley's also off on Wednesday, so they'll have a game in hand after the Terriers play the BNS. The Klippers start a ND-WEY-EST trip Thursday in Wilcox, while the Terriers only play Saturday at home against the Hounds. So by Saturday night, Yorkton will have one in hand.

Elsewhere, Melville lost 3-1 at home to Estevan. Spencer Crow scored his second in as many games for the Mils.
----------------
And guess what? The Wayway Wolverines, as of right now, are in a playoff position.
The Wolverines beat Swan Valley 5-1, and have leap-frogged the Neepawa Natives for 5th place in the Sherwood, and are also just 4 points back of Swan for 4th.
Wayway has played 2 more games than Neepawa, and visit the Natives for a monster of a Wednesday nighter.
Wow, Rosetown already? G'Night!

hey Craig, saw the stats from the mils game, for real 1 shot in the 3rd period for both teams, 3rd time this year from Melville, why bother keeping stats like save percentage
Your "Raise a Little Hell" comment had me remembering about this one Terrier game back in the 80's.
For some reason, the team decided to use Los Lobo's "La Bamba"(which was the Hot movie at the time) as it's goal theme for the season.
I thought it was a strange song to use, but it's the team's choice.
Well, there was one night the Terriers killed someone 14-2 and let me tell you, the crowd was groaning after about the 10th or 11th goal because the song was played after each goal.
Always remember that night everytime I hear that song now.
"The Kindersley goal horn also survived the fire." Funny stuff Craig. For the record I've never gotten behind Raise a Little Hell as their goal song.
Honestly, and maybe it was out of respect, but they didn't lay on the horn as much as usual last night.
3 years ago when it was Melville/Kindersley in the Sherwood Final, they'd let 'er rip for 30 seconds, randomly, with the puck in the neutral zone! And it was about 2 feet from my face! haha
Hopefully some guys start getting healthy soon!!! Tough to compete in this league with less than a full line up.
Craig, I remember that Sherwood final like it was yesterday. A buddy of mine was close to going over and popping that guy, the horn control was mounted on the railing leading up to the broadcast booth. During the play he would just hang on it...No one had a clue what he was doing... WOW. lol
