Most Outstanding Player – Devin Peters
Successful teams need not just good goaltending, but great goaltending and Devin Peters has certainly given the Yorkton Terriers that in the 2010-2011 season. The 20 year old goaltender from St.Andrews, Manitoba has had another fantastic season patrolling the pipes for Trent Cassan’s squad. His 19 wins tie him for the league lead and he is in the top 5 in many other categories.
Most Outstanding Defenceman – Blaine Tendler
Blaine Tendler was looked upon at the start of the season to be a leader of not only the Yorkton defence group, but the Terriers themselves. He has risen to meet the expectations of the organization and then some. The Viceroy, Saskatchewan native has definitely made life tough on opposition forwards as they try and venture into the Terrier zone this year along with teaching a younger group of individuals as to what is needed on a game-to-game basis to get the job done.
Top Rookie – Zak Majkowski
The 1992 born forward from Trail, B.C came to Yorkton with expectations to be a role player who would contribute here and there. Majkowski’s work ethic and talent soon made him a legitimate threat as he showed no first season jitters. Majkowski is on the verge of a 20 goal season as he has currently has 19 and that is an impressive figure for any rookie in any league.
These three players will join the nominees from the 11 other SJHL teams for year-end awards. Those awards will be announced shortly after the end of the regular-season.
