Friday's Roundup

Brock Appleyard scored three powerplay goals, including two on 5-on-3's, leading the Weyburn Red Wings to a 6-2 win over the Melville Millionaires on GX94.

Melville trailed 3-0 after one period, and 4-0 after two. Andre Parker scored both Millionaire goals, his first two SJHL goals to make it repectable.

The Mils went 0/9 on the powerplay, while the Wings were 3/8.

That's three straight losses for the Mils, who host Humboldt tonight (SAT), hoping to avoid a four game slide heading into the break. The Broncos have also lost three in a row........

...... The Yorkton Terriers handed Humboldt their third straight loss, winning their 9th straight in the process, 4-2 on Friday.

Brent Struble scored a pair, while Keven Cann and Zak Majkowski netted the others.

The Terriers were out-shot 38-28, but Devin Peters stopped 36, allowing only a pair of powerplay goals to two of the league's sharpest shooters, Justin Buzzeo and Jeremy Boyer.

Yorkton's off to Weyburn to round out their Pre-Christmas schedule tonight (SAT).

------------------

In Manitoba, the Peel brothers accounted for all the offense for Swan Valley, as the Stampeders fell 7-3 in Dauphin.

Landon Peel scored a pair, while his brother Jeff had the other for Swan.

As of Friday night, the second place Stamps are now just one point up on OCN, and two ahead of Dauphin. Both the Blizzard and Kings have 2 games in hand.

The Stamps host Neepawa tonight, before breaking for Christmas.

-- The Wayway Wolverines were off on Friday, but welcome the Dauphin Kings tonight, and the Portage Terriers Sunday afternoon at 4:30.

---------------

And, a shout out to Ron Holloway and the Ochapowace Thunder. The Thunder handed the Regina Capitals just their 2nd regulation loss of the season Friday night, a 7-4 decision in PJHL action.

Branden Whitehawk had 2g-2a for Ochap, who improved to 9-12-0-4.

Our other local Jr 'B' team also won on Friday night, with Fort Knox downing Assiniboia 6-2.
