What a Comeback! Mils Stun 'Stangs

When the Melfort Mustangs made it 3-0 on an early third period PP goal, it looked like the Melville Millionaires would fail once again to put back-to-back wins together.

Cue the comeback.

For the second time at home in just over a week, the Mils roared back to win, this time scoring three third period goals to force overtime, and win 4-3 in a shootout.

Craig Karius scored a powerplay goal at 2:06, Dane Bonish added another PP marker at 13:16, and Michael Desjarlais tied it, and forced overtime, with just 57 seconds remaining in regulation.

Justin Hollinger scored the only goal of the shootout, and Zach Rakochy stopped all 3 shooters he faced, along with 35 of 38 shots in regulation and overtime.

The win leaves Melville (7-10-0-1) one point back of Notre Dame for fifth in the Sherwood, and they play the Hounds Friday in a neutral site game in Fort Qu'Appelle (7:30 on GX94).

Kindersley had an even more impressive win Wednesday in Battleford, scoring 4 third period goals to win 6-5 in regulation. That leaves Melville still just 4 points back of the third place Klippers.

I was in Fort Qu'Appelle last (WED) night as well... as Fort Knox dropped a 3-2 (OT) decision to the Pilot Butte Storm.

Dillot Giblett and Zach Watson scored for Fort Knox, and their goalie Nathan Montgrand faced a total of 6 breakaways, including 4 short-handed, and was hung out to dry one too many times, making 31/34 saves, as the game-winner also came on a breakaway, and Pilot Butte's Sean Delwo made no mistake.
