Swan Valley Stampeders have been awarded this year’s All-Star Game, MJHL Commissioner Kim Davis announced today.
This year’s event - scheduled for January 19, 2011 - has been modified to a one-day, one-game affair featuring the top MJHL players, who will be selected by voting conducted by the league’s 11 head coaches.
"Swan Valley Stampeders are extremely pleased to be given the chance to host this year’s MJHL All Star Event,” Derek Boychuk, Swan Valley’s All-Star Committee Chair said.
“It's been 10 years since we hosted this event and we wanted to give something back to our great fans. The organization is extremely happy to be showcasing our league as well as our beautiful Swan River Valley.”
The host committee from Swan Valley was awarded the event after a thorough review by the MJHL’s Board of Governors, explained Davis.
"The members of the League are excited about having the Swan Valley region host the annual League All Star event,” said Davis. “I am confident that the community will do an excellent job of hosting the players, coaches and League officials.
“The Swan Valley Stampeders have been a strong and committed partner of the League and we are enthusiastic about bringing the league's top players back to the region for this great event."
In previous years the MJHL all-star weekend consisted of a prospects game, skills competition and all-star game.
