- Close to 1500km's of highway is behind me and it's back to the couch for Riders/Lions. 4 trick-or-treaters just before the game started, but none between 3:00 and 4:00.
- Riders just failed to finish a drive but got a FG... still 3-0 starting the second. Wes Cates just picked up his 4th 2-yard run of the game.
- Had a great 800 CHAB 2006-2007 newsroom reunion last night with Rob Carnie, Lee Davis and Chris Rasmussen. Made for a late night, and 23 hours awake! Great guys, but my job at GX94 is still the best one I've had. Miss those dudes and that city though.
- The MJ Warriors and PA Raiders played pond hockey last night, but DANG was it entertaining. 7-4 Moose Jaw, but could have been 13-9.
- Austin Bourhis played all his minutes 5-on-5, but didn't look out of place one bit with the Raiders. The former Terrier a penalty in the game's final seconds but no scraps from Bo-Bo last night!
- Speaking of defensemen, Moose Jaw's Morgan Reilly will play in one, maybe two World Juniors. Not this year, but maybe next year, and for sure the year after. Just 16 and runs the show when he's on the ice.
- Followed the SJ and MJ from my BlackBerry while at the Warrior game. Great weekend for our local teams! Combined, they went 6-and-2 in 8 games Friday and Saturday.
- The Terriers won TWICE in La Ronge. 4-2 Friday and 2-1 (SO) Saturday. Devin Peters stopped 49/50 shots on Saturday, and 80/83 over the weekend (.964%). Goalie of the Week? AHHH-HEMMM! Sam Prpich scored his first as a Terrier on Friday. Riley Paterson opened the scoring that night after returning from an injury.
- Melville lost big and won big against Flin Flon. Brayden Metz opened the scoring Friday but they went on to lose 5-1. They scored the first five goals on Friday and won 6-1. Metz was back at it with a hat trick, his linemate Lucas Froese had 4 assists... and Roger Tagoona had 1g-2a. I'm thinking those 3 might stay together for a while! Zach Rakochy was 9:45 away from his first shutout, and made 29/30 saves.
- Swan Valley continues to have Dauphin's number, winning two more close games over the defending champs. I was in Dauphin on Friday in a 4-2 Stamps' win... and Hugo Allard scored the nicest goal I've seen live in a while. On a 1-on-2, the Quebec product FLIPPED the puck through one of the defensemen's legs, walked around him to the outside, went backhand to forehand across the crease, out-waited Kings' goalie Brett Willows and slid it home. Shelby Gray was a man possessed, and their (so called) fourth line of Jeff Riddell, Jesse Enns and Terrence Jorgenson were outstanding. Gray scored two more on Saturday in a 4-3 win, and had 5 pts (3g-2a) on the weekend. Gray's in a 3-way tie more most goals in the league with 15. Defenseman Clark Byczynski also scored in both games and had a 4 point weekend. Bycyznski is 2nd in the MJHL in goals and points by a defenseman. Jayson Argue played and won both games for the Stamps. How 'bout his #'s... 7-3-1, 2.45 GAA, .927%, 2 SO. And he's 17.
- Wayway split their road trip, starting with a 4-2 win against the Saints on Friday. Solid road effort... Paul Vandevelde (2g-1a) and Shane Goodrunning (1g-2a) had 3 pts each. Riley Feser got the win.
**Yonus Davis just ran back a punt to the house for BC. I know everyone wants Jim Daley's head... but on kick and punt cover, you're supposed to stay in your lanes and just make a bloody tackle!**
- Back to the Wolverines, they were .500 and in last place after Friday's win. Then they lost 6-2 in Winkler on Saturday. Goodrunning (11g-10a-21p) and Vandevelde (6g-11a-17p) did the scoring again.
- Players arrive in Penticton for the World Junior 'A' Challenge on Tuesday. Swan Valley's Ryan Marshall and Yorkton's Clarke Breitkreuz are both on Team West for a second straight year. Team West plays an exhibition game against Canada East on Friday in Vernon. They play the States in another tune-up game on Saturday, before starting for real Mon/Nov/8 against the Swiss.
- Junior hockey fans in this neck of the woods should be excited! One-third of the season is in the books... and the Sherwood standings in both the SJHL and MJHL are so close it's unreal. Yorkton and Swan Valley are in similar positions. First place, but everyone's within striking distance. Melville and Wayway... they're both last, but have both beat some good teams, and neither are out of it by any stretch.
SJHL Sherwood Conference
Yorkton- 23 pts
Estevan- 20
Kindersley- 17
Notre Dame- 16
Weyburn- 16
Melville- 13
*As of Sunday... only Yorkton and Estevan are ABOVE .500... but everyone else is at that mark, or close.
MJHL Sherwood Division
Swan Valley- 27
Portage- 26
Neepawa- 23
OCN- 23
Dauphin- 20
Wayway- 17
*Swan Valley's winning percentage (.642) is actually 4th best. Neepawa's is tops at (.719).
- The Riders are down 13-3 at the half. Just gross.
- The Sacred Heart Saints football team won 33-14 in Maple Creek, on the radio on Saturday. They'll host the Delisle Rebels Saturday at 1:00. Not sure yet if we're broadcasting... but I would think it's a safe bet. Foam Lake, and most of our local 6-Man teams lost out this past weekend, so if we're doing a game at all I wouldn't doubt that's it.
- Heck of a weekend for Sacred Heart sports. Their soccer team won Provincial Gold, with a 2-1 (OT) win over Saskatoon Evan Hardy on Saturday. And, their Jr Girls Volleyball team won districts.

Heard something about Kindersley sending a couple of players to Swan Valley. But havent seen much else about who went the other way. Have you heard? Maybe i missed reading it?
Swan "signed" Beau Taylor and Pearce Gourley... Nothings going the other way... Kindersley likely just had too many bodies. Taylor scored 9 goals in the SJ as a rookie last year which is nothing to sneeze at, I liked him. Gourley's a rookie Dman... Talking to Guy layer today / early tomorrow.
