A few local products were part of opening weekend in the WHL.
Davis Vandane (Harvest/Terriers) and the Saskatoon Blades took on Austin Bourhis (Terriers) and the Prince Albert Raiders in a home-and-home Friday/Saturday.
Friday in Saskatoon, Vandane played, while Bourhis did not. Vandane was held of the score sheet, and had an even +/- rating, and his Blades won 3-2.
On Saturday, Vandane was out of the lineup, while Bourhis made his Raiders' debut, and racked up 9 PIM's, with a fight, along with goalie interference and slashing minors. Saskatoon won another one-goal game, this time 6-5.
John Niebrandt (Terriers) suited up for the Kootenay Ice in their first game of the season, a 4-0 win over Calgary on Saturday.
I BELIEVE John Odgers and Taylor Thompson (Harvest/Terriers) are still with the Prince George Cougars, but neither were in the lineup Friday or Saturday when the Cougars visited Kamloops and Prince George.
Stephane Robidoux (Wayway) also did not suit up in the first game of the season for the Portand Winterhawks Saturday in Seattle.
