So you're probably noticing a lack of Training Camp updates.
A handful of reasons for that.
1) Covering four teams, if I spend all weekend watching the Terriers, I'll feel guilty for not being in Melville... and if I go to Melville, well, maybe I should go to Wayway for an afternoon, or Swan the next day.
2) I ended up covering a Saturday morning news shift at the radio station. So I missed the Friday morning sessions of Terrier Camp due to my day job (although I did head to the rink for registration and to shake a few hands). Then, with an early alarm clock Saturday, I didn't go to the rink Friday night either. Alarm went off at 4:10, I was at work by 4:45, until 12:30, and now....
3) I'm at my parents' farm. I make a habit of coming home every Labour Day weekend to help with harvest, since it's really the only time I can. So right after my news shift we packed up the car, grabbed some Subway, and I've been playing in barley dust since about 5:00... till now.
4) Don't get me wrong, I LOVE covering camp... but seem to cover it less every year. Apparently I have no say in who makes the team or gets cut! By time the Intra-Squad games are over, the camp rosters will be cut in half, and then opening night rosters are that much closer.
So, unfortunately there won't be a lot of TC updates from this corner of the Blogosphere this weekend. I'll miss the Yorkton-Melville rookie game on Monday, but will definitely see the return match on Tuesday, and then it's hockey, hockey, hockey, full speed ahead for the next 7 months or so.
I'll pick my game up next week, promise!!!
Until then, a little "Grain Truck Therapy", and some Rider Football!
