SJHL & MJHL Resist One-Fight Rule
Thank goodness!
Hockey Canada wants fighting majors to come with an automatic game misconduct, and 5 Junior 'A' Hockey Leagues, including the SJHL and MJHL are running a 2-year pilot project, keeping the TWO-FIGHT rule intact, where a player can fight once, and still return, but gets ejected after a second fight.
Am I promoting fighting? No.
But you can bet in the other leagues who'll be tossing out players after one fight... there'll be WAY more dirty play, stick work, head shots... since they won't have to answer to it anymore.
I'm not sure what Hockey Canada's thinking with this one.
Good on ya SJ and MJ!!!
