The Yorkton Terriers fell 3-1 in La Ronge Friday night, and the Ice Wolves now lead the SJHL Credit Union Cup Final 3-2.
Dustin Stevenson scored twice for the Wolves in the first period. The first came just 24 seconds into the game, when Terrier goalie Devin Peters lost his goal stick, and Stevenson put a slap shot five-hole along the ice. If he had his stick, I'm positive Peters would have stopped it. Stevenson's second goal came on a 5-on-3 powerplay.
Kyle Miller scored his first of the playoffs midway through the second period on a Terrier powerplay, and the Terriers trailed 2-1 after two.
Although I thought if the Ice Wolves tried to sit on their one goal lead, the Terriers would have a great shot at tying it up, La Ronge did a text book job of protecting it, and Stevenson completed the hat trick with an empty netter with 19 seconds left.
Shots were 38-29 La Ronge. Peters made 35/37 saves (EN goal), Joel Danyluk was back in for the Ice Wolves and stopped 28/29 in his third straight win.
- I really wanted to inject my opinion into this post... but A) I might get in trouble, and B) this series isn't over. Maybe after the series I'll tell you what I think of how nasty this league final has been allowed to get. There's so much away from the play stuff, and abuse of goaltenders it's ridiculous. But I won't get into it right now. Talk to you Sunday.

Yes you can still do it boys, GO TERRIERS, but opinions are many Craig. It is one thing to let the boys play because it is playoff hockey but another to let injuries happen that can change careers. Bouris slash was awful, as was Danyluks grand standing and the water bottle to his head episode(this was Danyluk's own water bottle, it just happened to get thrown to the terrier bench)all this is provoked from a lack of major calls that should be made, the refs are intimidated when in LA and it is just to bad, the speering and butt ending should all be called, there is no way they can continually miss them. Hand out more tens before there is more stupid stuff
Agree 100%. If cheap shots had been called all series it wouldn't have come to this.
I think that the refs are to blame for half the injuries that have gone on in this final. Although being a Yorkton fan and knowing people that live in La Ronge there has been many comments made on the radio that is making Yorkton look very rude towards La Ronge. Lets just play hockey
Go Terriers!
The officiating has been inconsistent for both sides. There have been many missed calls.
As far as the Refs being intimidated in LA...I am not sure why. I have been to both rinks during these playoffs, and I heard far worse things be said by fans in Yorkton. I was also not impressed to see a few Yorkton fans picking on little kids, making racial comments and throwing garbage on the ice in La Ronge after they lost Game 2. I know that these are just a few of the fans, and I will not label all Terrier fans this way...but it does not leave a good impression. I am neither a Yorkton or La Ronge Fan. I am a fan of Jr Hockey in Saskatchewan, and I sincerely hope that both teams and their fans show some class and represent the people of Saskatchewan well. May the best team win.
Yeah not blaming the ref for the loss. What is with them there should be nothing happening behind the play at all with the two ref syatwm, isn't that what the extra ref is for is to watch for this, it seems worst with the two refs.
Why is every one going on about the water bottle being thrown, that was just out of frustation and it isn't going to hurt the goalie with all the gear he has on. Its the slashing and the slew footing that is going to get someone hurt.
