Coburn, Union Moving On in ECAC Playoffs

Back on Friday afternoon, I chatted with former Yorkton Terrier D Greg Coburn, and ran the interview during my second intermission in Weyburn that night.

Coburn and the Union Dutchmen were set to square off in their first playoff round against Quinnipiac starting that night, but little did either us of know they'd be playing in the longest hockey game in NCAA History!

Union took an early 2-0 lead in the first period, but Quinnipiac battled back to force OT.

And, it took FIVE overtimes to delare a winner, and at about the midway point of period EIGHT, Quinnipiac completed the comeback, despite being out-shot 75-55 by Union, and took a 1-0 series lead.

BUT, Coburn and the Dutchmen won Game 2 on Saturday 3-1, and then the third and deciding game of the Best-of-Three 2-1 yesterday (SUN), to advance and face 5th ranked St. Lawerence.
