Terriers Square Survivor Series

Troy Smukowich (centre) opened the scoring, and set up Cody Zubko (right) in the second period, as the Yorkton Terriers scored 3-straight powerplay goals enroute to a 5-1 win over the Melville Millionaires Saturday night, tying the Best of Five Sherwood Survivor Series at 1-1.

The line of Smukowich, Zubko and Ryan Griffiths (left), has combined for 4 goals and 9 points in two games to start the series. Zubko has 3-goals and 4-points.

Devin Peters made 28/29 saves, while Deszi Wiens allowed 5 goals on 27 shots in the Melville net.

Millionaires' coach Jamie Fiesel didn't mix words on our Post Game Show.

"We were just as bad or worse than we were last night (Game 1), we just didn't have a miraculous finish this time. We've played 6 periods of pathetic hockey, and if we keep it up, guess what? Short season."

"They beat us at every position. Their top players were better than our top players, their secondary guys were better than our secondary guys. Their 'D' moved the puck better than ours, and their goaltending was better. And I'm probably getting out-coached."

The Best-of-Five is now a Best-of-Three, with Game 3 Monday in Melville (7:15 / 7:30 on GX94). Game 4 goes the following night in Yorkton, with someone having a chance to wrap things up.
