
Trent Cassan got his first win as Yorkton Terriers' Interim Head Coach, a 5-1 decision over Nipawin on Friday.
The game was full of fights, especially in the third period with the game out of reach.
Kevin Stringfellow (8), Kyle Miller (3), Rylan McDonnell (7), Riley Paterson (3) and Clarke Byczynski (6) scored for Yorkton, while Devin Peters made 24/25 saves in the win. Ryan Kerpan faced 45 at the other end.
Yorkton's back ahead of Melville by one point for 4th, the Millionaires have two games in hand, and the two rivals hook up twice this weekend, Friday in Yorkton (on GX94) and Saturday in Melville.

The Swan Valley Stampeders blew a late third period 3-1 lead against OCN, but Shelby Gray made sure the Stamps still got the 2 points, scoring :28 into overtime for the 4-3 OT victory, snapping a 3 game slide.
The Stamps NEEDED this one, as their lead is back to 7 points over the Portage Terriers, although Portage now has two games in hand. Neepawa lost 11-1 in Dauphin which keeps them 3 back of the Terriers and now 10 behind Swan Valley. Neepawa's played one more game than Portage and one less than Swan.
Brad McDonald opened the scoring for the Stampeders, while Chris Reimer added his 34th and 35th of the season.
Shots were 21-21 after two periods, but OCN out-shot Swan 20-5 in the third, 41-27 on the night. Jayme Janzen got the win making 38 saves.
Swan Valley (32-18-2-3) has 7 games left, and go back to Wayway on Saturday night. Then next week they go to Dauphin on Tuesday and host Neepawa Wednesday, both games are on GX94 and are our final two regular season Stampeder broadcasts of the season.
