The lost 3-2 (SO) to the Saints on Friday, beat Swan Valley 3-2 (SO) on Saturday, and had a 3-1 win over OCN Sunday night, as the Wolverines gave up just 5 goals in the three games, and not including Dave Williams' empty-netter to round out the scoring Sunday, they only had to score 6 over the weekend.
After a scoreless first period, OCN's Kory Kimpinski got the Blizzard on the board early in the second. Jordan Holovach (pictured) tied it on the PP with his second of the season, before Jens Meilleur got the winner in the third, also on the powerplay. Holovach (1g-1a) then helped set up Williams for the empty-netter. Captain Niko Grose added two assists, giving him 21g-39a-60p in 53 games this season.
While they kept the goals against to a minimum, the Wolverines also kept the shots against down, as Brett Gagnon only needed 20/21 saves for the victory.
Wayway's now 9-2-1 in their last 12 games, and are home again on Tuesday against the Winkler Flyers. I updated the post below with the 2010 standings, and with Sunday's win, the Wolverines now lead the entire Sherwood Division in points in the new year, as well as winning percentage.
