The Yorkton Harvest spent a good part of the first half of the season at or near the top of the SMAAAHL standings, but with a recent funk were in 8th. However a strong finish saw the Harvest win their final four regular season home games, and get into a tie for 6th spot, but the tie-breaking formula deemed Moose Jaw would finish 6th, and the Harvest 7th.
Yorkton will face the always tough Prince Albert Mintos in the 2 vs 7 matchup, with dates yet to be set, though I've heard rumours some or all series will begin Tuesday.
The Harvest swept this weekend's home series against the Beardys Blackhawks, winning 4-2 Saturday and 4-1 Sunday.
The Yorkton Harvest finished the regular season with a record of 20-19-4-1, good for 45 points. The Mintos were 31-7-4-2 (68 pts).
Leading scorer: Riley Storozuk (24g-30a-54p) in 43 games.
Leading D-Man: Damon Severson (9g-25a-34)
Severson's only 15, and will most likely be the WHL's Kelowna Rockets next season, having already played 5 games with him this year, and one with his hometown Melville Millionaires.
