Unger, Stamps Blank Wayway

Another night on the radio, another shutout. This time it was Caden Unger (pictured) and the Swan Valley Stampeders blanking the Wayway Wolverines 5-0 at the Centennial Arena.

With Ryan Marshall away at the Junior 'A' Challenge, his old linemates, Darcy Riddell (2g, 1a) and Carter Selinger (3a), along with Francois Houde (3a), combined for 9 points.

Paul Bonar (1g, 1a) also scored, as did Chris Reimer, while Tyler Peers notched his first MJHL goal in the third period. The other four goals all game in the second period.

Unger's made is 2-and-0, and has stopped 58 of the 59 shots (including all 22 last night) he's faced since coming over from the Winnipeg South Blues, good for a 0.50 GAA and a .983%.

For the Wolverines, Jayme Janzen stopped 37/42 pucks, and the Wolverines are now averaging less than two goals per game on the season, scoring 43 goals in 22 games (1.95/game). They were also without their top two scorers, Niko Grose and Ryan Regel in Swan Valley.

The Stamps have now won back to back games, improving to 13-and-10, good for third spot, one point back of the Portage Terriers.

Swan Valley won't be without Ryan Marshall for anymore games, as they're off until Remembrance Day when they visit the OCN Blizzard (7:20/7:30 on GX94). The World Junior 'A' Challenge wraps up on the weekend.

Just for future reference, Unger is spelt with a E, not with a A. :)
