Wayway/Yorkton Pick Up Wednesday Wins

In a game we had on GX94, the Wayway Wolverines overcame a slow start and went on to beat the Swan Valley Stampeders 3-1, giving them their fourth win of the season, and sending the Stamps to their fourth straight loss.

Connor Pennell scored his first MJHL goal just over a minute in for the Stampeders, who out-shot the Wolverines 21-8 in the first frame alone. Preston McLeod tied it for Wayway on a late first period powerplay goal. After a scoreless second, Ryan Regel got behind the Stampeder defense and scored his 6th of the season, and eventual game winner on a breakaway. Ryan Duhaime added his first of the year with less than two minutes left to play.

Both goalies were outstanding, with Jayme Janzen nabbing the win, stopping 38/39 Stampeder shots. Chris Ward made 33/36 saves in the Swan cage.

Joel Danyluk made his first start for the Yorkton Terriers this season, and turned aside 22/24 shots in a 5-2 win over the visiting Estevan Bruins.

A pair of 17-year-old defenseman supplied a good chunk of the Terriers' offense, with John Niebrandt (pictured, left) scoring his 2nd of the year and adding a helper, while Austin Bourhis (pictured, right) scored his first SJHL goal.

Torey Stott added 1g, 1a... Jordan Menke and Nathan Murray (SH) also found the back of the net, while Kevin Stringfellow set up a pair of goals.
