Tough Friday For GX Hockey Teams

The Melville Millionaires were the only of our 3 local teams in action to register a point on Friday night, falling 4-3 in OT to the La Ronge Ice Wolves. Tyson Melnychuk, Logan Herauf and Aaron Decorby scored for Melville, while Brady Wilyman made 36 saves. The Mils are now 3-6-2-0 and visit the Notre Dame Hounds tonight (SAT). The Yorkton Terriers are home to La Ronge at 7:30, and host Weyburn tomorrow (SUN) at 6:00.

In the MJHL, Swan Valley lost their 5th straight, 6-2 to Selkirk and fall to .500 (8-8) after starting the season 8-and-3. Myles Stevens and Carter Selinger scored for the Stamps, who host Selkirk again tonight (SAT).

And the game we had on GX94 saw the Wayway Wolverines fall 6-1 in Dauphin. Bryce Lamb and Shane Luke scored twice each for the Kings, who improve to 13-1-1. Myles Baptiste spoiled Brett Willows' shutout bid late in the third period, his first MJHL goal. The shots on the night were 34-14 in favour of the Kings. The Wolverines are now 4-10-0-1, and welcome the Winnipeg South Blues on Sunday.
