-- Cody Hanson scored with 3:12 left in overtime to give the Melville Millionaires a 1-0 series lead in their Best-of-Seven Sherwood Conference Final with Weyburn. Hanson tipped in a Brayden Metz slapshot making the final 3-2 in OT.
Tyler Murray and Kale Dolinski also scored for the Mils, while Daniel Hope had a goal called back on the powerplay. Forest Dell and Shawn Courtney were the only Wings to beat Travis Bosch, who made 43 saves on 45 shots. The Wings were 0-for-5 on the powerplay, while the Mils went 1-for-3, but were one second and a called-back goal away from going 3-for-3. Their first goal was scored 1 second after their first powerplay ended, they scored on their second man advantage, and their final one saw Hope's goal called back. I couldn't argue, Levi Lind was on top of goaltender A.J. Whiffen... just not sure how he got there. The Wings themselves weren't even arguing when the puck went in, but Hanson's goal made everyone forget about that.
Game 2 goes Sunday in Melville (7:15/7:30 on GX94).
