Three first period goals led the Melville Millionaires to a 4-1 win over the Yorkton Terriers in Game 1 of the SJHL Sherwood Conference Semi-Final on Friday.Brayden Metz (pictured) scored twice, while Levi Lind and Tyson Melnychuk added goals. Jordan Reeve chipped in with two assists.
The Mils out-shot the Terriers 39-26. Travis Bosch was 4:02 away from a shutout when Derek Serdachny got the Terriers on the board. Bosch stopped 25 shots in the win. Yorkton's Devin Peters made 35 saves in the loss.
Melville's powerplay went 1-for-6... Yorkton was 0-for-5. Game 2 Sunday in Yorkton (5:45/6:00 on GX94).

In Portage, all 5 goals were scored in the second period as the Wayway Wolverines fell 3-2 in Game 1 against the defending champion Terriers.
Drew Ellement opened the scoring early in the second on the powerplay, before Cory More made it 2-0. Ryan Regal cut the lead in half on a Wayway man advantage, but 3 minutes later, Kajon McKay jumped a funny bounce to beat Wayway's Jayme Janzen. Jason Bowles then got the Wolverines back to within one just 37 seconds later... but they couldn't find the tying goal, and played to a scoreless third period.
Both teams went 1-for-4 on the powerplay, while Janzen made 35 saves in a losing cause. Bryan Mountain got the win, stopping 26.
Game 2 of the series shifts to Wayway tomorrow (SUN) at 7:30.

Actually Melville Out-shot Yorkton Craig... lol
Ooops... typo... it was late lol. Fixed now. Guess I'm not so sharp after 22 hours of being awake! Got the saves right at least so i wasn't totally out to lunch. looking forward to tomorrow though!
It was painful watching the Terriers last night.
We give it our all up the ice, but don't care about backchecking.
