This is how nerdy I am. On Friday night, I sat infront of my SaskTel Max with a pizza and flipped between Blaine Weyland on CJ1280 Estevan and Dan O'Connor on CJNB Battleford on opening night of the SJHL Survivor Series. My two broadcasting bro's did outstanding jobs, and their two teams, the Bruins and North Stars pulled out road wins in game one, over the Klippers and Hawks. And tonight, I caught double OT on the net as the Klippers evened the series with the Bruins with a 2-1 win. What a game that must have been, sounded like Ryan Neiszner of the Klippers and Estevan's Tommy Legault put on a goaltending clinic. Last year I called a ridiculous amount of OT in the playoffs, and man is that fun! Between the two leagues, I believe I had 7 games go to OT on the radio, plus Wayway and Dauphin went to the extra frame 2 or 3 times and it just worked out that none of those were on the air. At one point it was 4 nights in a row. Melville beat Yorkton 2-1 in Game 1 on Friday, Portage beat Swan Valley 5-4 in double overtime in Game 5 on Saturday, Melville beat Yorkton 2-1 in double overtime on Sunday, then Swan beat Portage 6-5 in overtime on Monday.
Not much else to talk about today other than to say I can't wait for MY , that's right MY playoff series (Melville-Yorkton, Wayway-Portage/or/Winnipeg) to start.
Overtime heroes on GX94 in 2008:
Stephan Vigier (Swan Valley) over Portage in Game 1 (2OT/SH)
Kale Dolinski (Melville) over Yorkton in Game 1
Mike Audino (Portage) over Swan Valley in Game 5 (2OT)
Jordan Wilson (Melville) over Yorkton (2OT)
Stephan Vigier (Swan Valley) over Portage in Game 6
Brett Leedahl (Kindersley) over Melville in Game 2 (with 0.1 sec left!)
Kirk Pearce (Kindersley) over Melville in Game 6 (2/OT)
