Another exciting chapter of the Highway 10 rivalry went the way of the Terriers on Friday night.
Shane Stanicky opened the scoring for Melville with his 15th of the season short-handed in the first period (his league-leading 3rd SHG of the season), but the Terriers would score within the first minute of the second and third periods to win 2-1. Kirk Byczynski notched his 10th of the season :52 into the second, and Jordan Zalba got the winner just :27 into the third.
The two teams meet again tonight (SAT), 7:30 at Farrell Agencies Arena in Yorkton for the final time this regular season. Yorkton now leads the season series 4-games-to-3. Melville's out-scored the Terriers 20-19 (one of their goals was also an empty-netter).
Weyburn also won on Friday, so the Mils are now 10 points out of first spot and now have to watch out behind them with Yorkton and Kindersley both 5 points back. The Terriers are now tied with Kindersley... the Klippers do have 3 games in hand Yorkton.
It's sure a fun time to be the only person in the world other than Don Chesney who honestly likes both these teams... it's always a dandy when they square off.
See ya there tonight.
