The Yorkton Terriers took round one of the Highway 10 home and home on Friday, with a 3-1 win over the Millionaires.
All four goals in the game came on the powerplay, with Torey Stott scoring all 3 Terrier goals. Tyler Murray responded for the Mils.
Special teams were key, with both teams scoring on their first powerplays, while Yorkton capitalized on their first two, and went 3/8 on the night. The Mils' PP went silent after that first goal, going 1/7 on the night.
The Mils actually out-shot the Terriers 34-24. Devin Peters got the win making 33 saves. Melville's Travis Bosch allowed 3 goals on 15 shots in 40 minutes of work, before Riley Hengen stopped all 9 shots he faced in the third period.
The two teams hook up again tonight (SAT) at Melville Stadium.
