Novice Terriers Do Their Part

HUMBOLDT-- A little Pre Game blogging. As we got the Elgar Petersen Arena just before 4:00 this afternoon, there was already a Yorkton/Humboldt game on the ice. Humboldt was hosting a Novice Touranment, with the Yorkton Cooperators in the 'A' Final against one of the host Humboldt teams. It was 7-7 when we got here, Yorkton had a lot of late chances, but it went to a shootout. Yorkton scored on their first two shots, and Cameron Zamonsky, Yorkton's goalie stopped the first two he faced for an 8-7 (SO) final. It was pretty cool, the Terriers went into their room after the game, and the little guys all got their sticks signed. I had a quick chat with the Novice Terriers' Coach Monte Taphorn, and I'll play it during tonight's Pre Game Show if you're reading this between now and then. If not, here it is!

Here's the Yorkton Cooperators Roster:

#1 Jordan Repsh
#30 Cameron Zamonsky

#2 Ian Wyllie
#4 Caden Bracken
#6 Ecko Swain
#7 Dylan Novak
#10 Michael Coleridge
#11 Tiara Gaudry
#12 Kaeden Taphorn
#14 Holden Knights
#15 Keenan Taphorn
#16 Drayton Dudar
#16 Koen Kucher-Paulmark
(two #16s... I'm assuming a typo!)

================

Obviously last night's game in Melfort was not on the radio. I found a seat behind the Terriers' bench. Different perspective for sure... and I think you appreciate the pace a little more the closer you are to the ice. Terriers actually played a very solid game in my opinion, despite getting out-shot and falling 4-3 to the Mustangs. Evan Neibrandt, Travis Coghill and Greg Coburn got the goals, and they came close to tying it in the final minute with goaltender Joel Danyluk on the bench. So the Terriers have 2 of a possible 4 points over the weekend so far, and now wrap it up with tonight's game in Humboldt, against the league-best Broncos, who have been sitting all weekend. It'd sure be nice to sneak away with atleast a point and go .500 or better on the road swing. I haven't had internet access since we left Nipawin Saturday afternoon. Melfort's rink didn't have wireless, and we stayed in Watson last night. I'm assuming the motel also didn't have wireless, but I stayed the night at my grandparents, who also live in Watson, and they don't have internet all together (go figure!). They do have a computer, but only use it for Solitaire and Kaiser.

Lookin' forward to this one tonight, remember it's an early 6:00 start, we'll be on the air at 5:50 with the Pre Game Show on GX94. Novice Coach Monte Taphorn and Terriers' Coach/GM Ed Zawatsky will join us on the Pre Game Show, Terriers' forward Travis Coghill in the first intermission with the Wholesale Transmission Player Profile... and an Alumni Update with former Terrier goalie Lynden Sammartino after the second period. Hope you enjoy!
