Terriers Come From Behind / Canada West Roster

For the first 40 minutes, it looked like the Yorkton Terriers' losing streak might hit 4, but a thrilling third period and overtime quelled any of those thoughts.

The Terriers trailed the visiting Melfort Mustangs 2-0 after the first, and it stayed that way until early in the third. Corey Silverson scored 2:08 into the final frame, and Kevin Stringfellow forced overtime with just 29 seconds left.

Then, with 18 seconds to play in overtime, Derek Derkach (pictured) beat David Tetreault to give the Terriers a much-needed 2 points.

Derek Serdachny had 2 assists on the night, while Devin Peters made 23 saves in the win. The Terriers out-shot the Mustangs 37-25.

---------------

Cody Danychuk and Dave Lamouche each had 1 goal and 1 assist as the Wayway Wolverines beat the Swan Valley Stampeders 3-1 on the road. Paul Marcoux added an empty netter, while team scoring leader Jason Bowles registered one assist.

Chris Reimer scored the Stampeders' lone marker. The Stamps were out-shot 37-24 by the Wolverines. Chris Ward made 34 saves in the loss, Jayme Janzen got the win with a 23 save performance.

Six SJHLers and two MJHLers made the roster for Team Canada West at the 2008 World Junior 'A' Challenge. Unfortunately no one from our local area teams made the cut. I really thought Chris Ward had a great shot after shutting down the opposition at the intra-squad game last week in Yorkton.
