Mils Take Over First / Stamps' Ward Wins P.O.W.

Hometown Kid Aaron Decorby (pictured) scored a powerplay goal with 1:00 left and the Melville Millionaires went on to beat the Melfort Mustangs 5-3, giving the Mils sole possession of first place in the SJHL Sherwood Conference.

Kale Dolinski scored in the first period while Tayler Jordan added another in the second.

The third period saw Melfort take their first lead of the game, and it stayed 3-2 for 10 minutes, until Logan Herauf tied it, Decorby gave them the lead, and Daniel Hope scored on an empty net with a second to play.

Decorby, Hope and Dolinski all had a goal and an assist on the night.

Riley Hengen made his Mils debut between the pipes and picked up the victory.

Melville's got a one point lead atop the Sherwood Conference over both Kindersley and Weyburn, with games in hand on both clubs. Their record's now 8-1-1, while their home record remains a perfect 5-0.

The Mils board the bus for Flin Flon this Friday and Saturday.

Swan Valley Stampeders' goaltender Chris Ward has been named Old Dutch Player of the Week, MJHL Commissioner Kim Davis announced today.

Ward, 19, played 240 minutes over the week ending October 12, sporting an impressive .953 save percentage and 2.25 GAA. For this season, he has a 3-4-0-1 record.

**Ward made 46 saves on 49 shots against the Winnipeg South Blues and 45 saves on 47 shots versus the Winkler Flyers in back to back wins at the Showcase Tournament.
