Pre Season Injuries Cause Mils to Shuffle 'D'

The Melville Millionaires blue line will look a little different than Coach Jamie Fiesel may have thought when they open the regular season a week from Friday.
Jordan Reeve, the leader off the defense corps suffered a broken leg in an off-ice incident, and will miss at least a month of the regular season, and the Mils says he could be out until Christmas.

Rookie and Canora native Terrence Jorgenson will also miss a month following knee surgery.

Fiesel says the injuries have prompted them to move former Western Hockey Leaguer Taylor Jordan back to the point, a move that's working out so far.

"Actually he can play both, and he finished the year in Tisdale on defense, and we liked what we saw from the big guy on defense in training camp. So he's definitely going to be put into that position to start I thought he was very solid in Yorkton on Tuesday, we put him with Curtis Beech and you've got the twin towers back there. He's a guy who'll play back there for sure until Reeve gets back."

The 6 foot 6 Jordan beside the 6 foot 5 Beech looked intimidating in Tuesday night's game in Yorkton, and Fiesel says he'd consider keeping that pair together when the games start to count next week.

"It's a little too early to tell. But definitely when you've got two big guys back there, nobody wants to play against guys with that size, and we're aware of that. We run 6 'D' all the time pretty well anyway. In that scenario, when it gets to late times in a period or a game (Jordan) is a rookie but he's played a couple years in the 'Dub, so we don't look at him like a rookie, we'll give him an opportunity to play in those situations."
