The Swan Valley Stampeders fell 6-3 to the Dauphin Kings in Dauphin's home opener Friday night. The Kings' top guns were all firing, with goals coming from Richard Jodoin, Dustyn Clegg, Karl Kelner, Kevin Falloon, and 2 from Shane Luke.
Craig Cornelson scored twice for the Stampeders, Chris Reimer had the other, while Myles Stevens set up all 3.
All 9 goals in the game came at even strength... with Swan's powerplay going 0-for-6, and Dauphin 0-for-7.
Shots on goal wound up being 46-39 for Dauphin... Chris Ward made 40 saves in the loss... Adrian Rubeniuk took the win.
Stampeders' Head Coach Guy Vestby talked about what was a bit of a melee-filled third period.
"Yeah, there's some passion, but they've gotta pick and choose when to show that. We can't afford to play with Myles Stevens, Darcy Riddell and Cody Straker in the penalty box. Guys gotta step up for themselves but I'm a little disappointed with some of that late stuff."
The Stamps try again for that first win of the season tonight in Wayway.

Rylan McDonnell and Derek Serdachny scored for the Yorkton Terriers who are still perfect at 3-and-0. Devin Peters stopped 20 of 21 shots to get the win in his first ever SJHL game.
