Jordan Barry turned in his second straight 31 save performance and the Yorkton Terriers improved to 2-and-0 on the season with a 4-1 win over the Notre Dame Hounds in Wilcox.Barry was beaten only by a Cody Mapes powerplay goal in the second period, while the Terriers responded with goals from Kirk Byczynski, Bryan Hull, Derek Serdachny and Corey Silverson.
The Terriers were out-shot 32-17 despite getting the 3 goal victory.
In his first 2 games as a Terrier, Barry's stopped 62 of the 65 shots he's faced for a .954 save percentage.
Coach Ed Zawatsky's been thrilled with his new tender.
"I thought he did a great job, real poised. Especially in the second period, we turned the puck over a lot. We worked on that in practice this morning, but it's something about this ice in Notre Dame, you want to try that long saucer pass, and the Hounds jumped on it a lot, but Jordan Barry was very solid tonight."
If goaltending was the first key, special teams were second. Yorkton's powerplay was 2-for-6, while they kept the Hounds to just 1 goal on 8 opportunities.
With the win, the Terriers move into a 3-way tie for first with Melville and Kindersley, and they get set to host Nipawin Friday and go to Estevan Saturday.
