Jarvis Heads South For Lacrosse

18-year-old Saltcoats native Jordan Jarvis is moving 18 hours away from home today as he begins a 4-year Lacrosse scholarship.

Jordan Jarvis: I'm going to Lindenwood University, it's in St. Charles, Missouri, just outside of St. Louis. One of our lacrosse coaches Adam Stewart plays there, and told me about it, said it was a pretty good school so I decided to check it out and he got me going there.

CS: Talk about last year's lacrosse season for the Yorkton Bulldogs, it ended on a high note, winning the Provincial Tier 2 Championship, that must have been a great experience.

JJ: Yeah it was pretty fun for everybody because in the past we haven't been the most winningest team, so it was a good experience, nice to get winning some games and scoring some goals, it was a fun time.

CS: You also led the league in scoring and were named Player of the Year at the end of the season, so things couldn't have gone much better for yourself too.

JJ: Yeah I just had a good year, just had really good teammates on my team. Guys like Greg (Cameron), Chase (Turberfield) and Grant (Risling) really helped me out. There were lots of young guys on the team too, pulling there weight, so it was a great year.

CS: Was it a fairly easy decision, you could have played Bulldogs for another 3 years, but tough to pass up an opportunity like that to go to school?

JJ: Yeah, it's always fun to play lacrosse in Yorkton, but going to school will be good, and I might play a higher level of lacrosse in B.C. in the summer too.

CS: When did you start lacrosse? How long have you played?

JJ: I've been playing for, I guess 6 years now, I started when I was in Grade 7.

CS: So are you even a little surprised at how far you've come in such a short time? Lacrosse isn't as main-stream as hockey and baseball for example, but you sure picked it up.

JJ: Yeah it's just a little harder to get better at the sport. Like I started playing hockey when I was like 3. So it's just harder to get better at something you start at an older age.

CS: Good stuff Jordan, anything else you wanna add about your trip to Missouri?

JJ: I just hope I'll have a fun time there, meet lots of people and get my schooling done.
=======================

Jordan led the Yorkton Bulldogs, and the Prairie Gold Lacrosse League in scoring last season with 31-goals, 37-assists for 68-points in just 10 games. He plans on majoring in History at University.
