- Blue Jays vs Yankees from 11:00 - 2:00
- Riders vs Ti-Cats 2:00 - 5:00
- I was awake at about 9:00, and good thing, I would have been AWAKEN shortly after anyway, by the sound of a chainsaw tearing up the half a tree that fell on the front lawn during Thursday's storm. Since I was up anyway, I went out and helped the two gentlemen load the pieces onto their truck. I'm glad it was a chainsaw... originally my landlord said they'd bring a few AXES over, and a case of beer if I was willing to help. This went a lot faster.
- Speaking of beer, and Riders. I finally got my hands on one of the new Pilsner Rider Flags (above). They are ginormous. Went to the Liquor Store last night, Randy Atkinson from GX works the odd shift there, he happened to be there, and he hooked me up. They were all out, but he got me the "display model."
- What's wrong with the Bombers? I'm not complaining, but I honestly would have picked them to win the Grey Cup this year, if I were a betting man. Not that 0-3 has them out of the running, but one would think they might have to go 10-5, or at least 9-6 the rest of the way just to make the playoffs. 42-24 was even a closer score than the game was... Ryan Dinwiddie of all people closed the gap after Kevin Glenn was yanked.
- If you're looking for some good local sports to check out this weekend, the Yorkton Midget Bulldogs are hosting Midget Lacrosse Provincials at Farrell Agencies Arena. Pee Wee 'B' Boys Fastball Provincials are in Stockholm. As for WMBL, the Melville Millionaires BEAT the defending champion Okotoks Dawgs last night! Final score was 7-6 in 10 innings, thanks to two runs in the bottom of the ninth to force extras (Brandon Morgan HR and a Brad Cochrane 2B that scored Josh Corriea). Matt Warr got the RBI in the bottom of the 10th, scoring Benny Gardiner for the walk-off win. Those two teams play again tonight at Pirie Field, then Okotoks has a double header in Yorkton tomorrow (SUN) afternoon (2:00, 4:30).
Have a good one!
