Two Stampeder Grads Off to School

Dustin Kimber (pictured) and Jeff Van Siclen are continuing their hockey careers and their schooling. Kimber's off to Mount Royal of the ACAC, while Van Siclen will play NCAA Division 3 for UMASS-Boston of the ECAC.

Here's the release from the Stampeders' website. http://www.stampeders.mb.ca/latest/kimber-van-siclen-off-to-college.html
Stamps' Head Coach/GM Guy Vestby had this to say about his former players, starting with Kimber.
"Kimber came in and was everything we expected plus more with his off-ice leadership, and just a really nice young man. He has aspirations of being a school teacher, and Mount Royal really focuses on that and it's pretty good hockey. So he's going to join a lot of ex-MJHLers and SJHLers in that College League."
"Jeff Van Siclen, being an American, and from the Boston area originally, he had a little inside track there. UMASS-Boston is in one of the top conferences of Division 3 hockey in the United States, so he's really excited, and the coach there has indicated they're expecting a big role out of him, so I'm sure Jeff won't disappoint, he's a very good hockey player and a real fine young man."
I also asked Guy about the futures, hockey or otherwise of last year's two other 20 year old grads, captain Kyle Dyck and goaltender J.B. Vallieres.
"Well J.B.'s ineligible for American College after having a cup of coffee in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (Moncton Wildcats), so I'm sure he's looking at some professional opportunities. And Kyle Dyck, his father's in the carpentry business, so Kyle's either going back to school or working with his dad. But both young men have their heads on straight and will pick the field that certainly suits them."

**And, speaking of the MJHL, the league schedule was officially released today on www.mjhlhockey.ca. Printed it off and hi-lited all the Swan Valley and Wayway games. It's like on the Movie "Fever Pitch", when Jimmy Fallon gets the new season of Red Sox tickets in the mail, and just smells them. I didn't sniff the paper, but it's still exciting. Hockey's coming!

Wayway is @ Swan on Saturday, September 13th at 7:30 to open the season for both teams. Wayway's home opener is the following Saturday, September 20th, against, yep, Swan Valley. Can't broadcast either game due to our Saturday Night Get Together, but I'll be hammering out a broadcast sked as soon as the SJHL's schedule is released, which should be any day.
