Stamps' President Steps Down After 9 Years

The 1999-2000 season, the first for the Swan Valley Stampeders, is the only season Derek Boychuk was not on the board, until now. Boychuk formally announced his resignation as President at last night's (Wednesday) AGM at the Westwood Inn, after 9 years on the board. He is, however, leaving on good terms, and with the team headed in the right direction.

"It's a decision I didn't take lightly. I sat down with my wife, and I said, I'd love to stay on, the team's going in the right direction, but fortunately I've got a 2-year-old daughter, and I'm finding it's hard to put in the time for this position at that level. I'm going to be around, I'm going to help out, and I've told the new board if they wish for me to stay on as governor, I'd do that for this season. It's not an easy decision to make, I've been doing it for 9 years and it's almost like you've grown up with it. At the same time, we've got 12 really good board members who I have a lot of confidence in. And I'm only a phone call away. If they ever need anything I'll be there to answer the questions and do whatever I have to do to make this team successful."
